Vitamins are organic compounds and vital nutrients needed by your body to grow and develop in a profound way.

Vitamin K
Vitamin K(K1, phylloquinone; K2, menaquinones), is a fat soluble vitamin, found abundantly in leafy green vegetables, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts, etc. It is best known for promotion of coagulation and bone health.

The Effect of Vitamin E on Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is defined as a condition in which the cells of prostate has become cancerous, causing abnormal cell growth with possibility of spreading to the distant parts of the body. Most prostate cancers are slow growing and enlarged prostate and prostate cancer may be detected during physical (rectum) exams.

Epidemiological studies focused in the synthetic version of vitamin K(Vk3) in reduced risk and treatment of prostate cancer have proven successful in certain extents. In human prostate cancer cells (DU145) implanted mice, administration of C/vitamin K(3) showed to exhibit serum alkaline DNase (DNase I) and acid DNase (DNase II) known as circulating tumour marker accompanied by a decrease in DNA expression of the tumor cells(1). Administration of vitamin C (Vit C), vitamin K3 (Vit K3), or vitamin C:vitamin K3 combinations against a prostate cancer cell line (DU145), suggest that vitamin treatment with individual vitamins affects the cytoskeleton(a series of intercellular proteins that help a cell with shape, support, and movement), the mitochondria, and other membranous components of the cell(2).
Vitamin K4 (VK4) is a synthetic version of vitamin K, inhibited proliferation in PC-3 cells with an IC50 value of about 20.94 microM, through cell cycle arrest at the S phase, disruption of the energy production in the surface of cell membrane, up regulation apoptotic and down regulation of proliferative pathways(3). Alpha-tocopheryl succinate (alpha-TOS), the redox-silent vitamin E analogue used in combination with VK3, showed to induce efficiently cell death that resembles autoschizis(cell death), through cell demise, lipid peroxidation, DNA damage, cytoskeleton alteration, lysosomal-mitochondrial perturbation, and release of cytochrome c without caspase activation(4), In a A prostate carcinoma cell line derived from the transgenic murine prostate cancer model (TRAMP), combination of of ascorbate:menadione (VC + VK(3), induced cell death by autoschizis, included cytokeletal changes conducive to cytoplasmic blebbing, self-excisions, and progressive nuclear alteration, through axidative stress(5). and the Co-administration of the vitamins also enhanced the antitumour activity 5- to 20-fold, with increased cytotoxicity through redox cycling and increased oxidative stress(6). On a human prostate carcinoma cell line (DU145), the co administration also showed to enhance cytotoxicity through increased oxidative stress, subsequent membrane damage, and DNA fragmentation (7). Menaquinones (vitamin K(2) in the study of its association with overall cancer incidence and mortality, showed to
associate with a reduced risk of incident and fatal cancer(8) including prostate cancer(9).

Taking altogether, co administration of synthetic vitamin K3 and other vitamins such as vitamin C is associated to reduced risk and treatment of prostate cancer, though cell cycle arrest, up regulation of
anti profilerative and down regulation of cancer promoter pathways or increased oxidative stress. Overdoses can induce symptoms of Skin rash, Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Anemia, etc. Please make sure you follow the guideline of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies.

The smoothie for prevention and treatment of Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia, a benign breast tumor
Yield: 2 servings (about 8 ounces each)
1/ 2 sweet potato
1/2 orange
1/2 tomato
1 cup blueberry juice

1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree about 1 minute
2. Blend on high speed about 1 minute or until the mixture is thick and the ice is well crushed.
3. Serve immediately

The finding of a natural source for treatment of Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia has been running into many obstacles, many ingredients showed initially with promising result in animal studies have not produced same potentials in large sample size and mutli centers human trials.

Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH) is a benign breast disease of mammary stromal
tumor caused by multipotent stromal cells proliferated lesion of the breast, frequently found in a microscopic incidental in breast biopsies performed for benign or malignant disease(7) According to surgical excision may be necessary for larger lesions and in women with Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia are at an increased risk for developing breast cancer(8).

Women with benign breast disease(BBD) are found to have lower antioxidant status, probably to compensate for this elevated free radical production(3)

According to the, dietary supplement "Karinat" containing beta-carotene 2.5 mg, alpha-tocopherol 5 mg, ascorbic acid 30 mg and garlic powder 150 mg per one tablet in a total of 66 patients twice a day during 6 months exhibited anti benign breast disease up to 75.8% in comparison to placebo(2).

According to the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Intakes of vitamin E and individual carotenoids may associate to reduce risk proliferative BBD(4), particular in carotenoids intake in BBD of adolescent girls(5).

Dr. Ramaswamy G and Dr. Krishnamoorthy L. said, "Serum ascorbate levels were significantly lower in patients with benign diseases of the breast and cervix than in controls"(6).

The effectiveness of Sweet Potato(Vitamin E), Tomato(Vitamin A) and Orange (Ascorbic Acid or Vitamin C )  may serve as cornerstones of pharmaceutical target for further studies in production of a potential medication for for Reduced Risk and treatment of Granular cell tumor (GCT) of the breast, a benign disease of the breast with little or no adverse effects.

Adding organic blueberry juice to the smoothie may also ameliorate the risk of breast cancer induced by Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia, according to recent studies insisted that intake of the fruits and the fruit products showed to the improve the survival rate of women with breast cancer(9).
Women who are at increased risk of Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia of the breast may drink at least one serving daily and women with Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia of the breast may drink as much as they can, depending to the digestive toleration.

The Effect of Vitamin E on Cervical Cancer

Epidemiological studies focused in the synthetic version of vitamin K(Vk3) in reduced risk and treatment of breast cancer have proven successful in certain extents. In comparison of the anti cancer effects of Vitamin K (VK) congeners, vitamin K3(Menadione ), a synthetic analogue with the same properties as provitaminis was found to be most potent in treating various types of cancer, including breast cancer(1) In comparison the inhibition effects of vitamin K, K3 and warfarin in human cancer cell lines, the combination of 3 Completely inhibited of L1210 growth in flask culture at concentrations of 200 micrograms/ml of warfarin, 75 micrograms/ml of vitamin K1, and 4 micrograms/ml of vitamin K3. The combination K3 and warfarin enhanced cytotoxicity at doses depending manner.Vitamin K3 alone was also cytotoxic in a concentration of 1 micrograms/ml, including breast cancers(1a). Synthesized VK2 derivatives (MQ-1, MQ-2 and MQ-3, also in the comparison of the antitumor activities of vitamin K1, K2, and K3 against a panel of human cancer cell lines, vitamin K3 showed inhibition of variouscancers and radioresistant cancers including breast cancer cell lines (BC-M1)( in doeses of 26, 15, 25, and 33 microM: VK1 ranged from 6 to 9 mM, and VK2 ranged from 1 to 2 mM in ID50 values(1b).

In breast cancer, vitamin K3 analogue plumbagin exerted its inhibitor effect in osteoclastogenesis induced by tumor cells and breast cancer-induced osteolytic metastasis through suppression of RANKL signaling to alter tumor progression(2). In breast cancer cell line MCF-7, VK(3), it exhibited cytotoxicity through DNA fragmentation (separation or breaking of DNA strands into pieces) andmitochondrial dysfunction(3).
In MCF-7, estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer cells, vitamin K3 (menadione) inhibited the transcriptional activity of 17beta-estradiol in a reporter gene assay(4). CR108, a novel vitamin K3 derivative, (S)-2-(2-hydroxy-3-methylbutylthio)naphthalene-1,4-dione, exhibited apoptosis in both the non-HER-2-overexpressed MCF-7 and HER-2-overexpressed BT-474 breast cancer cells, through induced the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, leading to cytochrome c released from mitochondria to cytosol and and cleaved PARP(activate CNS immune responses) proteins(5). Menadione, also known as VK3, its reduction-oxidation, generated by ascorbate-driven menadione redox cycling inhibited MCF7 breast cancer cells, through glycolysis(metabolic pathway for generation of energy) inhibition, loss of calcium homeostasis(maintains adequate calcium levels), DNA damage and changes in mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPK)(regulate proliferation, gene expression, differentiation, mitosis, cell survival, and apoptosis ) activities(6). Also, in MCF 7 breast cancer cells, Fluorinated Cpd 5, an arylating K-vitamin derivative, showed growth inhibition probably via conjugation of cellular thiols, by suppressing the activity of thiol containing cellular protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) enzyme(play critical roles in fundamental biological processes), with consequent induction of various tyrosine phosphoproteins(involved in a number of metabolic and signalling pathways) in promoting mutation cell proliferation(7).

Vitamin K although was found effectively in decreased risk and treatment for breast cancers by exhibition of its effects in cytotoxicity, apoptosis and anti proliferation through DNA fragmentation, mitochondrial dysfunction, cell death pathway, overdoses can induce symptoms of Skin rash, Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Anemia, etc. Please make sure you follow the guideline of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies.

Cardiorenal syndrome is a term of interrelated of kidney and cardiovascular. As one disease of
one organ can induce dysfunction of the other. The coexisting CVD and kidney disease or 'cardiorenal syndrome (CRS)' have a synergistic adverse clinical outcomes.

The smoothie for prevention and treatment of  Kidney disease induced Cardiovascular disease in Cardiorenal syndrome
Yield: 2 servings (about 8 ounces each)

1/2 cup olive
1 cup cooked sweet potato
1 cup organic grape juice

1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree about 1 minute
2. Blend on high speed about 1 minute or until the mixture is thick and the ice is well crushed.
3. Serve immediately

The finding of a natural source for treatment of Kidney disease (induced Cardiovascular disease) in Cardiorenal syndrome has been running into many obstacles, many ingredients showed initially with promising result in animal studies have not produced same potentials in large sample size and mutli centers human trials.

Recent studies back by well known institutions proposed, Cooked Sweet Potato, Olive and Grape Juice may be the next generation of natural ingredients for prevention and treatment of Kidney disease (induced Cardiovascular disease) in Cardiorenal syndrome

Chronic Kidney Diseases(CKD) in in Autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease is a progressive loss of kidney function over period longer than 3 months through different stages, deepening to the GFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate). According to the Tri-Service General Hospital, Excessive oxidative stress increased oxidative nucleicacid damage and exagerated the development of complication of Chronic Kidney Diseases(1).

The Anti-Odxidant Therapy in Chronic Renal Insufficiency (ATIC) study suggested, combination of pravastatin, vitamin E, and homocysteine treatment in 18 months together with hypertension controlled  effectively attenuated expression of Chronic Kidney Diseases(CKD) through reduced oxidative stress against renal function(2).Vitamin E-coated membranes (VECMs) consist of a multilayer membrane with liposoluble vitamin E, used in dialysis significantly improved Hb levels and lower rHuEpo requirements in chronic HD patients(3).Dr. Rashid Khan M and colleagues insisted, vitamin E significantly reduced dyslipidemia and inhibited the development of CRD caused by atherogenic factors after six weeks. particular in hypolipidemic and nephroprotective activity against free radical-related diseases(4).

N-3 fatty acids found abundantly in olive may also contribute to the potential benefits of dietary fat
modification in CKD patients, according to the Karolinska Institutet(5).
Dr. Lee SM and Dr. An WS., professors at the Seoul National University Hospital, insisted, intake of Omega 3 fatty acid exhibited cardioprotective effects in chronic kidney disease, the main cause of death, through attenuated inflammation, dyslipidemia, malnutrition, atherosclerosis, and vascular calcification(6).
Dr. Friedman AN said, " Long-chain polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids (n-3 PUFA), which are obtained primarily from dietary sources such as coldwater fish, have diverse and potent mediating effects on the immune, inflammatory, and metabolic pathways, signal transduction, and cell membrane physiology" and "In the meantime, the current American Heart Association n-3 PUFA intake guidelines can be applied to CKD patients"(7).

Resveratrol is a phytochemical in the class of Stilbenoids, found abundantly in grape and blueberry, may also benefit in attenuated complications and treatment of Chronic Kidney Diseases(CKD), through its inflammation and oxidative stress modulation (8).
According to the joint study led by the The Catholic University of Korea, Bucheon, resveratrol expressed renoprotective effects by activating NRF2 signaling against against oxidative or electrophilic stress(9).Furthermore by suppressing the pro inflammatory cytokines, consumption of white wine and olive oil, significantly reduced plasma markers of chronic inflammation in CKD patients(10).

The effectiveness of Cooked Sweet Potato, Olive and Grape Juice may serve as cornerstones of pharmaceutical target for further studies in production of a potential medication for reduced risk, complications and treatment of Kidney disease (induced Cardiovascular disease) in Cardiorenal syndromewith little or no adverse effects.

People who are at high risk of Kidney disease (induced Cardiovascular disease) in Cardiorenal syndrome should drink no more than 4 servings daily, depending to digestive toleration.
Life style and diet pattern change are necessary.

The smoothie for prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular disease induced Kidney disease in Cardiorenal syndrome

Yield: 2 serving (about 8 ounce each)
1 cup Blueberry
1/4 cup avocado
1/4 cup raw flax seed
1 cup of rice milk

1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree about 1 minute
2. Blend on high speed about 1 minute or until the mixture is thick and the ice is well crushed. Add more green tea drink if needed
3. Serve immediately

The dream of finding the natural ingredient for prevention and treatment of heart disease with adverse effects in replacement of conventional medication has not been abated. Some ingredients have to discard due to it can achieve the same potent results in human trials.
Beside cancer, heart disease kills more than 2,000 Americans everyday. Approximately 60 million Americans have heart disease.
Scientist community may have found the smoothie(combined ingredients of green tea) with potential and therapeutic value for reduced risk and treatment of heart disease without adverse effects.

Blueberry is a flower plant, belonging to the family Eriaceae and native to Northern America, cultivated all over the world in suitable climate for its health benefits and commercial profits. Recent study suggested that blueberry may have a potential to become a pharmaceutical ingredient for treatment of heart disease(1) due to its phytochemical procyanidin composition and total anthocyanin contents(10).

According to the National Institutes of Health, blueberry enriched diet (BD) has exhibited protective effects on myocardium from induced ischemic damage and demonstrated the potential to attenuate the development of post MI chronic heart failure(11).

Furthermore, Dr. Ahmet I and the research team at the same institution said" a blueberry-enriched diet has positive effects on the course of CHF and thus warrants consideration for clinical evaluation"(12).

Blueberry anthocyanins-enriched extracts (BAE) inprove heart function by attenuated mean arterial blood pressure, heart rate and activities of heart enzymes, improved cardiac dysfunction, left ventricular hypertrophy and fibrosis, through decreased inflammatory cytokines expression, ameliorated oxidative stress,...(13) on cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced cardiac injury.

Avocados are a commercially valuable fruit and are cultivated in tropical climates throughout the world, it is a green-skinned, pear-shaped fruit that ripens after harvesting and native to the Caribbean, Mexico, South America and Central America, belonging to the flowering plant family Lauraceae.

According to the University of KwaZulu-Natal, intake of acovado leaf extract (PAE) used as a natural supplementary remedy showed to inhibit hypertension and certain cases of cardiac dysfunctions in some rural Africa communities(14).
In animal model, combination of aqueous extract containing leaf of Persea americana Mill. (Lauraceae), stems and leaf of Cymbopogon citratus (D.C) Stapf. (Poaceae), fruits of Citrus medical L. (Rutaceae) exhibited antihypertensive activity against ethanol and sucrose induced hypertension in rats by the improvement of biochemical and oxidative status(15).
Furthermore, Dr. Rodriguez-Sanchez D and the research team at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, avocado due to its acetogenin compounds, inhibited platelet aggregation with a potential preventive effect on thrombus formation, such as those that occur in ischaemic disease(16).

Flax seed is native to the region of the eastern Mediterranean to India and also known as common flax or linseed. n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), the main ingredient found in flax seed exhibit cardio protective effects through defending cardiomyocytes against the cell signalling protein TNF in pro-apoptotic action and preventing cardiac degenerative diseases(17).
According to the University of Manitoba, flax seed also retarded the progression of atherosclerotic plaques resulting in a significant ≈40% reduction in plaque formation(18).
In New Zealand White rabbits study, flaxseed supplementation effectively limit cholesterol-induced atherogenesis and abnormalities in endothelial-dependent vasorelaxation(19).

People who are at increased of Cardiovascular disease due to family history, obesity.....should drink at least one serving daily and people with Cardiovascular disease should drink no more than 4 serving a day, depending to digestive toleration.
Change of  life style and diet pattern are also recommended.

Vitamin E, a fat soluble vitamin, consisting eight different variants (alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta-tocopherol and alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta-tocotrienol) with varying levels of biological activity(2), found abundantly in corn oil, soybean oil, margarine, wheat germ oil, sunflower, safflower oils, etc. plays an important role in neurological functions and inhibition of platelet aggregation, regulation of enzymatic activity, free radical scavenger, etc..

The Effect of Vitamin E on Cervical Cancer

According to the American Cancer Society's, in 2014, 12,360 new cases of invasive cervical cancer will be diagnosed with the death of 4,020 patients. The risk of cervical cancer is higher in Hispanic women followed by African-Americans, Asians and Pacific Islanders, and whites(1).
Epidemiological studies, linking vitamin E in reduced risk of cervical cancer have not been consistent(1a)(1b)(1c)(1d), but no doubt of its effectiveness in improvement of quality of life, through reduction of oxidative stress(2)(2a)

The Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juarez study indicated the effectiveness of dietary supplements, including vitamin E to reduced risk of cervical cancer but depending to the specific factors of the diseases(4)(5). The study from 1NationalCancer Center, of Korea, showed a strong inverse effect of antioxidants vitamin E against risk of cervical cancer in a 144 cervical cancer cases and 288 age-matched, hospital-based controls using unconditional logistic regression models(6). Tocotrienols, variants of vitamin E, including alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta- of palm oil in the testing against human cervical cancer cell line showed a strong effects of alphaT3 and gammaT3 induced cell death.through cell cycle arrest at G2/M phase and triggered apoptosis in a dose-dependent and time-dependent manner(7).
The Vilnius University study in the assessing the parameters of immune and antioxidant systems in patients with cervical cancer indicated a lower levels of antioxidant vitamin E and the activity of the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase in comparison with the control group(8)(8a). Oral administration of alpha-tocopherol and quercetin, exerted their antioxidants effects in protection of DNA damage against free radicals through detoxification by increased glutathione and glutathione-s-transferase (9). The study at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center of three human cancer cell lines, including cervical cancer (HeLa), indicated that d-alpha-tocopheryl succinate (alpha-TS) induced chromosomal damage in both human cervical cancer cells and ovarian cancer cells, but not in human normal fibroblasts in culture and enhanced the level of radiation-induced chromosomal damage in cancer cells, but it protected normal cells against such damage(10).

Taking altogether, without going into reviews, Vitamin E and its variants may have a protective effect in reduced risk of cervical cancer through its antioxidant properties. But further studies with large sample sizes and multi centers studies are necessary to validate its claims. Over doses of vitamin E supplement can cause symptoms of blurred vision, weakness, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, etc., please make sure you follow the guideline of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies.

Hypertensive nephropathy is health condition of a progressive kidney disease caused by chronic hypertension. According to the Transplantologii i Chorób Wewnetrznych Akademii Medycznej w Gdańsku, treatment of hypertension according to international standards would allow to reduce the still increasing number of patients with hypertensive nephropathy(*).

The smoothie for reduced risk and treatment of Hypertensive nephropathy
Yield: 2 servings (about 8 ounces each)
3/4 cup celery
3/4 cup of apple with peel
1 cup green tea drink 1 cup green tea drink (Make from 4 grams(2 tea bags) of green tea, a slice of ginger and a cup of hot water lipped for 5 minutes, and set aside for cooling to room temperature)

1. Place the celery, apple with peels, green tea, in a blender and puree about 1 minute
2. Blend on high speed about 1 minute or until the mixture is thick and the ice is well crushed.
3. Serve immediately

Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood. high blood pressure means raising pressure in your heart. If your blood pressure stays high over time it can damage the body in many ways.
Blood pressure medications have undoubtedly prevented many deaths from heart disease in the past 30 years, but also induced many irreversible adverse effects, including kidney damage.

Diet rich in fruits and vegetable and reduced intake of red meat, saturated fat and trans fat has shown to attenuated risk of hypertension(1). Recent study showed that celery(2) intake used conjunction with berries(3) and green tea(4) may be the potential drink for prevention and treatment of hypertension.

Celery is a species of Apium graveolens, belongings to the family Apiaceae, cultivated all around the globe as a vegetable. According to Chronic administration of hexanic, methanolic, and aqueous-ethanolic extracts of celery seed effectively exhibited an antihypertensive activity in chronic treatment of elevated BP in tested animals(5).

Dr. Dianat M and the research team at the Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences said," hydro-alcoholic celery leaf extract on systolic blood pressure (SBP), heart rate (HR) and lipid profile in animals' model of hypertension induced by fructose"(6)
3‑n‑butylphthalide (NBP), an phytochemical found in celery seed used in traditional Chinese medicine exhibited significantly antihypertensive and attenuated progression of hypertensive effects through decreased oxidative stress and the expression of pro‑inflammatory cytokines(7).
Apple is the pomaceous fruit of the apple tree, a species of the rose family Rosaceae. It is one of the most widely cultivated tree fruits. With phytochemical flavonoids, apple and its peel inhibited angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) in promoted the development of high blood pressure, Dr Balasuriya N and Dr. Rupasinghe HP. Suggested(8)According to the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, "Flavonoid (found abundantly in fruits and vegetable)(10) intake has been inversely associated with mortality from coronary heart disease and stroke,..... Lowering blood pressure through increased dietary consumption of dietary antioxidants(such as flavonoid) may decrease the rate of end-organ damage that is secondary to hypertension"(9).

Green tea has been a precious drink in traditional Chinese culture and used exceptional in socialization for more than 4000 thousand years. Due to its commercial values and health effects, green tea now has been cultivated all over the world in suitable climate.

Epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate (EGCG), the main polyphenol presence in green tea is best known for its antioxidant and anti inflammatory effect. In animal model, the phytochemical exhibited anti hypertensive and progressive activity through reduction of oxidative stress in paraventricular nucleus of hypothalamus (PVN), the Xi'an Jiaotong University Health Science Center study showed(11).

Dr. Yarmolinsky J and the research team at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, suggested that, intake of tea are shown to reduce blood pressure in individuals within prehypertensive and hypertensive ranges in the review of all relevant studies published from 1946 to September 27, 2013.(12).

Furthermore, green tea extract (GTE) inhibited the oxidative stress and ingiotensin (Ang) II induces endothelial dysfunction (ED) causes of hypertension through scavenging of superoxide anion generation, the University of Padova, insisted(13).

People who are at increased risk of Hypertensive nephropathy due to chronic hypertension, family history .....should drink at least one cup daily and people with Hypertensive nephropathy should drink the juices at least 3 times a day, depending to digestive toleration.
Change of life style and diet pattern are also recommended.

Vitamins are organic compounds and vital nutrients needed by your body to grow and develop in a profound way.

Vitamin E
Vitamin E, a fat soluble vitamin, consisting eight different variants (alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta-tocopherol and alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta-tocotrienol) with varying levels of biological activity(2), found abundantly in corn oil, soybean oil, margarine, wheat germ oil, sunflower, safflower oils, etc. plays an important role in neurological functions and inhibition of platelet aggregation, regulation of enzymatic activity, free radical scavenger, etc..

The Effect of Vitamin E on Asthma

The widespread of incidence of asthma over large 20 years in South East Asian population, specially in children and aging group has caused some concerns to the government and scientific community. It may be due to over intake in artificial ingredients, polluted environment as well as intake foods triggering the inflammatory allergens.

General consensus suggestion of increased dietary vitamin E intake is associated with a reduced incidence of asthma, due its antioxidant status, but epidemiological studies, linking vitamin E in reduced risk and treatment of asthma have not been conclusive(a)(b)(c)(d)(e).

1. Serum levels of vitamin E
Serum levels of vitamin in asthmatic patients may be correlated to the occurrence of the diseases. The University of Tampere study of five European rural settings with Children of 1133 mothers recruited during pregnancy, showed no associated of with allergies or asthma by 6 years of age regardless the concentration of vitamin E(1). and the study of the Yamaguchi University, also indicated no correlation of levels of vitamin E and asthma in the a total of Of 2796 students attending schools in Shunan, Japan, in 2006.(1a). The University of Medical Sciences study indicated other wise as treatment of fluticasone and vitamin E (50mg/day) showed an significantly increased of Serum level of Vitamin E, with improved FEV1 and FEV1/FVC ratio(2). The study of acute asthmatic attack in children, showed a high degree of reactive oxygen species formation causing considerable oxidative stress with the high level of oxidants Serum malondialdehyde (MDA) and low level of antioxidants(vitamin C, vitamin E and uric acid)(3). Researchers at the Oslo University Hospital, in the study of children of 7-12 yr with asthma (n = 50) and noasthma (controls) (n = 52)indicated that schoolchildren with asthma and rhinitis had reduced levels of the major serum antioxidant albumin, and poorly controlledasthma was associated with decreased vitamin E and transferrin levels(4).

2. The effects
The Northwestern University study indicated the opposing regulatory effects as allergic inflammation is inhibited by supplementation with the purified natural vitamin E isoform α-tocopherol but elevated by the isoform γ-tocopherol when administered at physiological tissue concentrations(5)(6). But according to University of North Carolina School of Medicine, γ-tocopherol (GT) significantly decreased (p < 0.05) internalization of attached zymosan bioparticles and macrophage expression of CD206, CD36 and CD86 in allergic asthmatics through downregulation of both innate and adaptive immune response elements, and atopic status(7). The composition containing 623 mg of gamma-tocopherol, 61.1 mg of d-alpha-tocopherol, 11.1 mg of d-beta-tocopherol (11.1 mg), and 231 mg of d-sigma-tocopherol capsule in Phase I human dosing study showed the decreased systemic oxidative stress, increased serum levels of gamma-tocopherol, and inhibited monocyte responses to LPS without any adverse health effects(8). IOvalbumin (OVA)-sensitized Brown Norway rats, treatment of gamma-tocopherol(gammaT), inhibited the pathogenesis of both AR and asthma inflammatory pathways(9). Suggestion of oxidant stress and diminished antioxidant defenses may be a cause of asthmatic disease(10) and uncontrolled asthma and severeasthma pattern have impaired antioxidant defenses and are thus most susceptible to the damaging effects of oxidative stress(11). 1500 IU of natural-source d-α-tocopheryl acetate daily for at least 16 weeks in volunteered asthmatic patient, showed to inhibited oxidant stress, through modulation of allergic inflammation and airway hyperresponsiveness in human atopic asthmatics in vivo(12).

Taken altogether, Aγ-tocopherol, a variant of vitamin E, may be effective in reduced risk and treatment of asthmatic disorder, but further large sample and in multi centers studies are necessary to validate it claims. Over doses of vitamin E supplement can cause symptoms of blurred vision, weakness, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, etc., please make sure you follow the guideline of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies.
