Coffee, A functional Food for Prevention of Hepatic Cirrhosis

Intake of coffee daily and regularly may have a profound and therapeutic effect in reduced risk and treatment of Hepatic Cirrhosis

Coffee, second to green tea, is a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

Hepatic Cirrhosis is a condition characterized by the abnormal function of the liver due to the presence of live damage or scarring.

In the experiments in cellular and animal models provided biological plausibility, coffee consumption exhibited liver protective effect in prevent the Cirrhosis from developing through it's as an antifibrotic activity.

According to the Arauz and colleagues study in the exam, one of the key questions regarding the antifibrotic role of coffee, coffee as a specifically primary antifibrotic agent is considered as a functional food in prevent and treatment of chronic liver disease.

Dr. Dranoff J in the analysis Coffee Consumption and Risk of Cirrhosis suggested that coffee consumption is inversely related to the progression of liver fibrosis to cirrhosis and even hepatocellular carcinoma.

Furthermore, in the study to evaluate the hepatoprotective properties of coffee and caffeine in a model of chronic bile duct ligation (BDL) in male Wistar rats with liver injury induced by 28-day BDL, assigned to administered group of conventional coffee, decaffeinated coffee, or caffeine daily, researchers at the lead Autonomous University of Baja California, filed the following results

1. Intake of coffee showed significant effects in promoted antioxidant status by restoring the redox equilibrium, preventing the elevation of liver enzymes as well as hepatic glycogen depletion.
2. Coffee and caffeine consumption prevented collagen increases
3. Coffee intake reduced protein in expression in promoting hepatic infectious cell activation,
4. Coffee intake decreased expression levels of transforming growth factor-β, connective tissue growth factor, α-smooth muscle actin, and collagen in inducing further damage in a tested model of chronic bile duct ligation (BDL).

The result indicated that coffee intake have a strong efficacy in prevent liver cirrhosis developing through antioxidant activity, hepaprotective effect, reduced profibrotic molecules anti proinflammation involved expression of Cirrhosis.

More interestingly, in the comparison of total 195 patients with end-stage liver disease (ESLD) consumed coffee on a daily basis and 184 patients did not. researchers at the joint study lead by the University Hospital of Heidelberg found that coffee consumption, in fact, ameliorated the progression of liver cirrhosis and increased long-term survival after liver transplantation in compared to nondrinker.

With all the information found, one may be considered coffee as a functional food in attenuated risk and treatment of liver cirrhosis through its liver protective effect via phytochemicals in demonstration of antioxidant expression.

Healthy Food Onion Processes Immunomodulatory Activity for the Needs of the Body

The immune system formed part of the defense system is the set of cells associated with the activity that protect the body against antigens or infectious agents.

It is one of the body's defense system against diseases by keeping us healthy and preventing infections.

Immune dysfunction is a chronic condition, depending on the parts of the immune system affected.

The immune dysfunction can be classified into
* The underactive immune system is also known as the weakened immune system. People with the underactive immune system are susceptible to infection, recurrent infections.

* The overactive immune system is also known as autoimmune diseases. In this case, patients suffer diseases associated with the immune system that attacks the body tissues.

Immunomodulation is a process in which an immune response is altered to the desired level. In other words, under the immunomodulatory effect, the immune system is responding correctly to the desire of the body, regardless of types of immune dysfunction.

Some researchers suggested that by providing the necessary nutrition which has been found to play major exogenous factors in modulating different aspects of immune function. Therefore, the immune system can be optimal for the benefits of human health.

Dr. the lead scientist outlined,
* " nutrition induces a significant modulation of a marker within the reference range" or

* "nutrition induces a significant modulation of a marker from outside the reference or control range back into the range" or

*"nutrition induces a significant modulation of a marker from within the reference or control range to outside the range" or

* "nutrition prevents a significant modulation of a marker from within the reference or control range to outside the range" or
* "nutrition induces a significant modulation of a marker from a less favorable reference range into the reference range of a comparator group with a more favorable immune function".

Finally, the doctor said, "If related immune function markers show consistent changes, the interpretation will be easy and will follow the same logic as for individual markers" and "If changes in related markers are not consistent, interpretation is greatly helped by good clinical practices that include the a priori definition of the most important ‘lead markers’ (typically groups A and B)".

In other words, immune functioning can be modulated to the body needs.

The onion is a plant in the genus Allium, belongings to the family Alliaceae, a close relation of garlic. It is often called the "king of vegetables" because of its pungent taste and found in a large number of recipes and preparations spanning almost the totality of the world's cultures.

Depending on the variety, an onion can be sharp, spicy, tangy, pungent, mild or sweet.

With an aim to find a potential compound that processes immunomodulatory effect, researchers examined the onion extract against disease associated with immune dysfunction.

In vitro, application of both onion aqueous and ethanolic extract of garlic powder significantly stimulated cell proliferation of rat spleen lymphocytes, by activating a cytokine signaling molecule in the immune system that regulates the activities of white blood cells.

These activities were totally depending on specific stimulator of cell proliferation. In this case, it was the interleukin 2 (IL2).

In subjected treated with concanavalin, both extracts also modulated the proliferation of rat thymocytes and splenocytes in response to concanavalin administration.

Interestingly, depending on the concentration, onion extracts not only had an inhibitory effect on T cell proliferation at higher concentrations but also increased T cell proliferation at lower concentrations of extracts.

In other words, onion processed immune modulatory effects depending on the body needs.

Taken altogether, onion may be considered a remedy for the promotion of immune function, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Coffee and Coffee Caffeine in Reduced Risk Insulin Resistance and Onset of Diabetes

Coffee intake daily and regularly may have a potential effect in improved insulin resistance, thus reducing the risk of early onset of diabetes, a university study proposed.

Insulin resistance is a condition characterized by a lowered level of the insulin response to the level of glucose (sugar) in the body.

Coffee, becoming a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

In a study of the effect of coffee against insulin resistance of Male C57BL/6N mice (N = 48) divided into six dietary groups: chow diet, HFD, HFD-supplemented with 0.1%, 0.3%, and 0.9% decaffeinated green coffee bean extract, researchers found that treatment of the minimum dose 0.3%. of green coffee bean extract showed a most significant effect in improved insulin levels caused by HFD- diet.

Furthermore, decaffeinated green coffee bean extract in the study also expressed reversely fat accumulation and insulin resistance caused by HFD diet by downregulating the genes involved in adipogenesis and inflammation in fat tissues involved insulin resistance.

Other, in the testing of bioactive substances in coffee in expression of acutely and/or chronically increase insulin secretion from β-cells and improvement of insulin sensitivity in skeletal muscle cells, measurement of insulin secretion after Insulin secretion at acute (1-h) and long-term (72-h) incubation, the bioactive substances from coffee exerted the following results
1. A bioactive compound isolated from coffee at 10(-8) and 10(-6) M acutely increased insulin secretion by 12% and 16% respectively.
2. Long-term exposure to cafestol at 10(-10) and 10(-8) M increased insulin secretion by 34% and 68%,
respectively.
3. Caffeic acid, another compound isolated from coffee also increased insulin secretion acutely and chronically.
4. Compounds showed no association to insulin secretion, included Chlorogenic acid, trigonelline, oxokahweol, and secoisolariciresinol.

In support of the above analysis, the antidiabetic effects of coffee and caffeine on high-fat-diet-induced impaired glucose tolerance in C57BL/6J mice. C57BL/6J mice fed a high-fat diet given regular drinking water (control group), or a 2.5-fold-diluted coffee or caffeine solution (200 mg/L) for 17 weeks. indicated that the group treated with an injection of coffee caffeine strongly improve glucose tolerance, insulin sensitivity, and hyperinsulinemia compared with mice in the control group.

And coffee and caffeine exerted an ameliorative effect on high-fat-diet-induced impaired glucose tolerance through reduced inflammatory expression in gene and cytokines in improving insulin sensitivity.

Taking together, coffee may have a potential capability in reduced risk of Insulin Resistance and early onset of diabetes through attenuated insulin resistance by bioactive compounds such as cafestol and caffeic acid.

Turmeric Protects the Cervix Against the Risk of Cervical Cancer in Vitro

The cervix is the lower part of the uterus that opens at the top of the vagina. The cervix acts a transition area for vaginal lining (squamous epithelium) to uterus type (columnar epithelium) through the transitional area (squamous columnar epithelium) to host the development of the fetus.

Cervical cancer is a medical condition caused by cells grown abnormally in the cervix uteri or cervical area due to the alternation of cells DNA.

Most cases of cervical cancer begin in the cells on the surface of the inner lining tissue in the cervix uteri or cervical area before penetrating into deeper layers to form a tumor by proliferation.

According to the statistics provided by the American Cancer Society, in 2019, approximately 13,170 new cases of invasive cervical cancer will be diagnosed and cervical cancer will cause the death of 4,250 American women.

Today, due to the introduction of the pep test, the cervical cancer death rate has dropped significantly as cancer can be diagnosed at a very early stage. Most cases of cervical cancer are diagnosed in women at the ages of 35 and 44.

The 5-year survival overall rate for all women with cervical cancer is 66%. However, the 5-year survival rate in women with invasive cervical cancer diagnosed at the early stage is 92%.

Pre-cervical cancer is the early stage of abnormal cell changes in the cervical tissue, if left untreated, the incidence can develop into true invasive cervical cancer.

Gardasil, a vaccine, has been used to prevent pre-cervical cancer from the infection of two types of HPV approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2006. It is for women benefits to take this vaccine if you are sexually active with several partners.

Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.

The herb has been used in traditional medicine as anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and to treat flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.

In the urgency to find a potential compound for the treatment of cervical cancer, researchers investigated the Anti-cervical cancer activity of curcumin in vitro.

According to the tested assays, in human cervical cancer HeLa cells curcumin-induced cell death through the induction of DNA damage, and chromatin condensation.

More precisely, the efficacy of curcumin at 13 µM increased the protein levels associated with DNA damage and repair, leading to cancer cells apoptosis on the early onset of cervical cancer.

Additionally, in HPV infections related to HPV 16 and 18 types, that cause cervical cancer, researchers evaluated curcumin chemopreventive and anticancer effects against both HPV-related and nonrelated cervical cancers.

In benzo(a)pyrene (Bap), carcinogen-induced pathological cervical lesions of women who smoke, administration of curcumin exerted a significant effect in the inhibition of Bap induced signaling pathway and molecular markers dysregulation.

In other words, proteins associated with the early onset of cervical cancer caused by benzo(a)pyrene (Bap) were inhibited the injection of curcumin by reducing levels of oxidative stress marker.

Taken altogether, turmeric processed abundantly bioactive compound curcumin may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of cervical cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of turmeric in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Coffee< or = 3 Cups/day in Reduced Risk of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Incidence

Total coffee intake daily is associated to nonrisk factor but the attenuated risk of incidence of rheumatoid arthritis, the joint study by the Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston and an Asian study, suggested, respectively.

Coffee, a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic disorder as a result of inflammation, affecting mostly the flexible (synovial) joints and tissues and organs in the body.

The disease affects more women than men and generally occurs after the ages of 40, causing the diminished quality of life of many elders.

In the follow-up study of 83,124 women, completed the FFQ at baseline, the diagnosis of incident RA(between 1980 and 2000) with a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) completed every 4 years, from baseline in 1980 through 1998, researchers found that1. Decaffeinated coffee consumption of >/=4 cups/day (compared with no decaffeinated coffee consumption) showed no subsequent risk of incident RA
2. There was no relationship of incidence of RA or reduced incidence RA in caffeinated coffee consumption, regardless of numbers of cup intake daily.
3. Total coffee and total caffeine consumption were also not associated with the risk of RA.

On the other hand, according to the Korea University College of Medicine, the numbers of coffee intake daily in reduced RA incidence were substantially different in number studies. The highest category of coffee intake in Heliovaara et al. cohort study from Finland was up to 13 cups per day, while US studies were > 4 cups coffee intake per day.

The study also emphasized that caffeine showed no significant association of RA incidence compared to caffeinated coffee consumption in ameliorated risk RA incidence.

Furthermore, the study in valuated coffee, tea, and caffeine consumption and risk factors for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) onset among older women, indicated that risk of RA reduced substantially with drinking > 3 cups/day of decaffeinated coffee in compared to nondrinkers.

Interestingly, women who have never drunk coffee before showed an increased risk RA if the daily intake of decaffeinated coffee is over 4 cups.

Dr. Mikuls TR, the lead author said, "Decaffeinated coffee intake is independently and positively associated with RA onset" and "Further investigations of decaffeinated coffee and tea intake as arthritis risk factors are needed to verify these findings and explore their biologic basis".

Collectively, the findings suggested that coffee intake is not an independent risk factor but reduced risk parameters for the onset of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) incidence, depending on numbers of cup consumption per day.

Phytochemical 3,3'-Diindolylmethane Protects the Liver Against Hepatic Fibrosis Developing

Hepatic fibrosis is a condition caused by scars tissues buildup on the liver which limits the function of the liver.

Most cases of hepatic fibrosis is a result of an imbalance of production and dissolution of collagens in extracellular matrix caused by overproduction of proinflammatory cytokines in the acute phase of infection or interruption in the stages of healing.

Hepatic fibrosis is an early stage of cirrhosis, a leading cause of liver failure and liver cancer.

Patients with hepatic fibrosis are asymptomatic. However, long-term accumulated of liver scar induced cirrhosis can cause symptoms of jaundice, variceal bleeding, ascites, a condition of the accumulation of protein-containing fluid within the abdomen and portosystemic encephalopathy.

According to the statistics provided by the Johns Hopkins Medicine, cirrhosis and other chronic liver diseases are common disease-related causes of death in the U.S. Approximately 31,000 people in the U.S. die each year from cirrhosis.

In hepatitis C virus perspective, approximately 3.5 to 4.6 million people in the U.S. are chronically infected with the virus, leading to the death of 2,000 people annually.

Most cases of the advanced stages of liver fibrosis are treated by liver transplantation. However, according to the University of California in the development of new therapy for the treatment of liver fibrosis, targeting the steps in HSC activation may be a therapeutic target for liver fibrosis.

A list of the targets can be found by clicking the link (2) of the reference area. Please read Fig. 5 Proposed therapies for liver fibrosis.

3,3'-Diindolylmethane or DIM are phytochemicals derived from the digestion of indole-3-carbinol, belonging to the group of Indoles, found abundantly in broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and kale, etc.

With an aim to find a potent natural ingredient for the treatment of hepatic fibrosis with no side effects, scientists evaluated the effects of 3,3'-Diindolylmethane (DIM) on excessive collagen deposition produced by activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs).

Both HSC-T6 cell line and primary HSCs included in the study were examined for the expression of α-smooth muscle actin and collagen I, after injection of DIM.

During the experiment, DIM inhibited the expression of miR-21 by deactivating the underlying HSC through suppressing the signaling pathway associated with cell differentiation linking to inflammation and autoimmunity.

Where overexpression of microRNA-21 (miR-21) has been found to play a crucial role in the biological functions and diseases, including development, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and inflammation.

The inhibition of miR-21 overexpression was attributed to the effect of DIM in the modulation of the activity of the transcription factor, AP-1, a transcription factor that plays an essential role in the regulation of gene expression in response to a variety of stimuli, including cytokines, growth factors, stress.

The findings suggested that DIM in vivo process the potential in attenuating liver fibrosis induced by thioacetamide, according to the assessment of the collagen deposition and profiles of profibrogenic markers.

Dr. Zhang Z, the lead scientist wrote in the final report, "DIM shows potential as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of hepatic fibrosis".

Taken altogether, 3,3'-Diindolylmethane derived from the digestion of indole-3-carbinol may be considered a supplement for the prevention and treatment of hepatic fibrosis, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of 3,3'-diindolylmethane in form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Coffee and Coffee Caffeine in Reduced Risk of Inflammation

Intake of coffee daily and regularly has a profound effect on reduced inflammatory expression, a renowned institute study suggested.

Inflammation is a natural reaction of the immune system to protect the body against foreign invasion and after injury and damage to tissues or organs.

Coffee has become a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roast bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

In the analysis to clarify the beneficial effects of caffeine consumption in human health and behaviour, the mechanisms against pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases, researchers at the joint study lead by the University of Coimbra found that coffee caffeine reduced the onset and progression of neurodegenerative diseases, through controlling microglia(cells in the brain and spinal cord) reactivity and neuroinflammation.

Dr. Madeira MH, the lead researchers said, "caffeine controls microglia-mediated neuroinflammatory response associated with the majority of neurodegenerative conditions".

Interestingly, the study to evaluate the Spent coffee grounds (SCG) anti-inflammatory effects conducted lead by the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, suggested that the efficacy of SCG in reduced risk of inflammatory is probably associated to high contents of antioxidant such as phenolic compounds, and fermentability by the human gut flora, in regulated the pro-inflammatory expressions, even with roasting effect in reduced total phenolic contents of SCG in influenced colonic fermentation.

After considering all other factors, the study strongly insisted, "Spent coffee grounds (SCG), rich in dietary fiber can be fermented by colon microbiota producing short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) with the ability to prevent inflammation".

Other, more importantly, in the examined numbers of prospective and retrospective cohort studies, coffee consumption against relative risk of developing major depressive disorder in humans, Caffeine and phytochemicals such as chlorogenic acid, ferulic acid and caffeic acid, all important constituents of coffee, showed to attenuated risk of depression through mediated inflammation, in vitro and in vivo.

Dr. Hall S, the lead author said, "The ability of bioactive coffee constituents to modulate the parameters of neuroinflammation has been shown with caffeine having strong antioxidant properties in vitro, chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid having strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in vitro and ferulic acid having activities in vivo animal models of depression".

Taking all together, there is no doubt that coffee intake daily and regularly have a significant effect in reduced risk of inflammation through overexpression of the presence of bioactive constituents.

Healthy Legume Navy Bean Promotes the Healthy Gut Bacterial Metabolism

Gut microbiota is a community of microbes living in the gastrointestinal tract, including at least 1000 different species of known bacteria with more than 3 million genes.

Normally, the ratio of good and bad microbes in the gut are balanced. However, people who have a psychological condition such as anxiety, and depression, and are under constant stress and long-term use of antibiotics, particularly your diet may have a negative impact on the ratio.

In other words, the risk factors that alter the ratio of the microbes in the gut may lead to inflammation, oxidative stress, and blood sugar imbalances.

The impact of gut microbes can also have a strong influence on what the human host is able to extract from its diet, both nutritionally and energetically.

Epidemiological studies suggested overweight and obese people show a dysbiosis characterized by a lower diversity. In other words, imbalanced gut microbiota dysbiosis promotes diet-induced obesity and metabolic complications.

Some researchers suggested that we can optimize our health by manipulating the gut microbiota through diet by increasing the intake of prebiotic and probiotic foods.

However, the benefits may totally depend on their effect on the resident community which is different individually.

Dr. Hall A, the lead scientist in the study of microbial metabolism in the mammalian gut, wrote, "Microbial dysbiosis, however, has been implicated in a number of human disorders, including obesity and inflammation. This dichotomy highlights the need to understand the factors that determine the composition and metabolic output of our resident and transient microbes".

And, " Throughout the human lifespan, we know that diet plays a major role in shaping gut microbial communities, as well as directing the types and amounts of metabolites produced. Understanding the factors that affect microbial metabolic output within the host may help identify the roles of microbes in health, as well as new targets for treatment in disease".

The small, white navy bean, also called pea bean or haricot, popular in both dry and green forms, is very popular in Britain and the US, native to Peru. It is now grown and consumed across the world, due to their numerous health benefits.

On finding a natural compound for the improvement of gut microbiota, researchers examined the effects of heat-stabilized rice bran (SRB) and cooked navy bean powder (NBP) phytochemicals on colonic microbiota and intestinal health.

The experiment included a total of 29 overweight/obese volunteers with a prior history of colorectal cancer consumed a study-provided meal and snack daily including eating SRB (30 g/day) or cooked navy bean powder (35 g/day) on gut microbiota and metabolites for 28 days.

Based on the tested assays,* SRB or NBP showed increased gut bacterial diversity and altered gut microbial composition at 28 days compared to baseline in favor of the "good" bacterias.

* Supplementation with SRB or NBP increased total dietary fiber intake similarly, compared to the decrease of rice bran intake.

* More precisely, the Firmicutes: Bacteroidetes ratio is increased and SCFA (propionate and acetate) associated with chronic inflammatory disease in the stool is decreased after 14 days but not at 28 days.

The results strongly suggested that the efficacy of cooked navy bean in the re-balanced the gut microbiomes in favor of the good bacterias may be attributed to fiber contents in the interaction with
phytochemicals in the bean.

Dr. Sheflin AM, the lead scientist said, " modulation of gut microbiota and fermentation byproducts by SRB and suggest that foods with similar ability to increase dietary fiber intake may not have equal effects on gut microbiota and microbial metabolism".

Taken altogether, the cooked-navy bean may be considered a remedy for the improvement of gut microbiota, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Coffee, A Potent and Functional Food in Reduced Risk of Endometrial Cancer

Intake of caffeinated coffee may have reduced risk and treatment of Endometrial cancer, an Asian joint study supposed.

Coffee, becoming a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roast bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

Endometrial cancer is a medical condition characterized by cell growth disorderly and uncontrollably in the endometriosis. In the later stage, cancer can spread to distant parts of tissues or organs.

In the review of published data of a total 1,534,039 participants from 13 published articles added in this meta-analysis, researchers found that reduced risk of endometrial cancers incidence is associated to coffee intake to patients never treated with any forms hormone therapies and either overweight or obese.

The relative odd ratio in these group of people were 0.66 and 0.77, respectively, correlated to decaffeinate and caffeine coffee intake.

In fact, the risk of endometrial cancer decreased by 5% for every additional cup of coffee consumed.

In compared to decaffeinate coffee, caffeinated coffee showed a stronger in the attenuated risk of 7% instead of 4% in decaffeinated intake,

The study also addressed that caffeine found in coffee may have potential in enhanced coffee effects in ameliorated endometrial cancer expression. Risk of cancer is reduced by 4% for every 100mg caffeine intake per day.

In a 26 years follow-up study of 67,470 female participants aged 34 to 59 in 1980 of the Nurses' Health Study (NHS), returned questionnaires by the participants indicated that
1. Women drinking less than 4 cups of coffee per day were not associated with endometrial cancer risk.
2. Women drinking more than 4 cups coffee per day displayed a 25% decreased risk of endometrial cancer compared to women who drank fewer than 1 cup per day.

Dr. Je Y, the lead author said, "For decaffeinated coffee consumption, a suggestive inverse association was found among women who consumed 2 or more cups per day versus <1 cup/mo."

Interestingly, the menopause women, the primary analyses included 45,696 women and 427 incident endometrial cancer cases, diagnosed over a total of 342,927 person-years of follow-up, suggested that
1. No association of endometrial cancer risk in coffee consumption in compared to non-daily drinkers (none or <1 cup/day),
2. Women who drank ≥4 cups/day have a relative odd ration of were 0.86. 0.63, for total coffee with 0.89 for caffeinated coffee, and 0.51 (95% CI 0.25, 1.03) for decaf coffee.
3. In obese women, compared to control group (none or <1 cup/day), women who drank ≥2 cups/day had a relative odd ratio of 0.72 for total coffee, 0.66 for caffeinated coffee. and 0.67 decaffeinated coffee drinkers.

Taking together, the intake of coffee is associated with a reduced risk of endometrial cancer in healthy and menopause women regardless of weight mass.

Herbal Bilberry, the Atheroprotective Functional Food

Atherosclerosis is a condition associated with the accumulated plaque on the arterial wall. Over time the condition can cause stiffening and hardening of the arterial, leading to cardiovascular disease.

Atheroprotection is an action that reduces the plaque build up on the arterial wall. In other words, anything, including the use of substances such as herbal remedy that prevents the blockage or narrowing of the arteries is considered to precess atheroprotective effects.

Although plaque is formed by substances found in the bloodstream, most cases of atherosclerosis are also associated with the amount of cholesterol which normally returned to the liver in healthy individuals remaining in the blood due to low levels of good cholesterol (HDL) or overexpression of bad cholesterol (LDL).

In other words, an unhealthy ratio of low and high-density lipoprotein is also one of the major risk factors of atherosclerosis. the healthy ratio of blood cholesterol is any number that is less than 4 (LDL)/ 1 )HDL)

Dr. Ilaria Zanotti, the lead scientist in the investigation of atheroprotective effects of (poly) phenols wrote, "epidemiological studies have demonstrated that dietary intake of (poly)phenols from nuts, coffee, cocoa, grapes, and berries may protect against the development of atherosclerosis".

And, "... recently emerging data suggest mechanisms by which (poly)phenolic substances can modulate cellular lipid metabolism, thereby mitigating atherosclerotic plaque formation".

The results strongly suggested a healthy diet including nuts, coffee, cocoa, grapes, and berries may have a profound effect on the prevention of atherosclerosis.

Bilberry is a species of low-growing shrubs in the genus Vaccinium, belonging to the family Ericaceae, native to Northern Europe.

The plant berry has been used as herbs in traditional medicine for the treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea, gastritis, gastric ulcer, and duodenal ulcer, enterocolitis, ulcerative colitis, anemia, cystitis, kidney disease, and psoriasis, diabetes, etc.

With an aim to find a potent ingredient which processes atheroprotective effects, researchers assessed the results of the intake of bilberry foods associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases from the previous study.

2 bilberry extracts included one rich in anthocyanins extracted from untreated bilberries (BE) and a second one extracted from yeast-fermented bilberries (FBE).

On atherosclerosis induced apolipoprotein E-deficient mice (apo E(-/-)) received for 16 weeks a diet supplemented with 0.02% of either BE or FBE.

According to the measurement of atherosclerotic plaque area, administration of both supplementations bilberry extracts led to significant inhibition of plaque development, without affecting on oxidative stress parameters or lipid profiles.

The results surprisingly suggested bilberry supplement inhibited the atherosclerotic development through other mechanisms unrelated to inflammation and lipoproteins.

Compared to BE, FBE showed better protection against plaque accumulation on the arterial walls.

The finding firmly showed that the fermentation must have generated new bioactive compounds which are found in the BE extracts.

In other words, other compounds found in bilberry fermentation are more effective in attenuating the progression of the atherosclerotic lesions.

Taken altogether, bilberry, particularly bilberry fermentation processed abundantly bioactive compounds anthocyanins may be considered function remedies for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis, pending to the validation of larger sample size and multicenter human study.

The Phytochemical cucurbitacin B isolated from Cucumber Improves Chemotherapy on Laryngeal Cancer

Laryngeal cancer is a medical condition characterized by abnormal cell growth in the tissues of the larynx due to the alternation of cells DNA.

Larynx, also known as the voice box is a tube above the windpipe (trachea) in the neck and in front of the food pipe.

Most cases of laryngeal cancer start in the cell on the surface of the inner lining of the larynx, before penetrating into the deeper layers to form a tumor.

At the very early of cell alternation, patients are asymptomatic. However, as the tumor continues to grow, the cancer cell may infect other healthy tissues a distance away through the blood and fluids distribution.

Laryngeal cancer shares the general symptoms with other cancer including unintended pain, weight loss, loss of appetite, fatigue and gastrointestinal discomforts accompanied by specific symptoms of a lump or swelling in your neck. a long-lasting cough, a persistent sore throat or earache and difficulty breathing. in severe cases.

Sometimes, patients may vomit blood due to the oversize tumor which has pressed on the nearby blood vessels.

Out of many prevalent risk factors, smoking tobacco (cigarettes, pipes, cigars) is considered a major culprit that increases the risk of developing laryngeal cancer in the Western world.

Dr. A Altieri, the lead scientist wrote, "Cancer of the larynx is extremely rare in individuals who neither smoke nor drink alcohol (Austin and Reynolds, 1996). The risk rises with increasing levels of smoking and drinking, each agent approximately multiplying the effects of the other (Elwood et al, 1984; Blot, 1992; Dosemeci et al, 1997; Talamini et al, 2002). The risk of laryngeal cancer is 10–20-fold higher in current smokers than in non-smokers".

The cucumber plant is a species of Cucumis Sativus, belongs to the family Cucurbitaceae and native to Western Asia. It is a creeping vine with roots in the ground and grows up with the support of frames.

With an aim to find potential and natural chemotherapy for the treatment of laryngeal cancer, researchers examined whether cucurbitacin B can also enhance the sensitivity of Hep-2 laryngeal cells to cisplatin.

The study included the evaluation of the proliferation, cell cycle distribution, and apoptosis in Hep-2 cells treated with either cucurbitacin B, cisplatin, or the combination.

According to the tested results, Hep-2 cells treated with a cucurbitacin B/cisplatin combination display synergistic effects on growth inhibition, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis induction, compared to single-agent cucurbitacin B or cisplatin-treated cells.
Moreover, Hep-2 cell lines treated with the cucurbitacin B/cisplatin combination demonstrated a significantly reduced level of p-Stat3, compared to single agent treated cells.

Where overexpression of p-STAT3 is an indication of a poor prognosis biomarker in cancer.

Additionally, cucurbitacin B/cisplatin-treated Hep-2 cells also demonstrated a significant reduction of the protein associated with regulation in the cell cycle and anti-apoptosis, compared to single-agent cucurbitacin B or cisplatin-treated cells.

Based on the results, researchers said, " these results suggest that the cucurbitacin B/cisplatin combination treatment may be a potentially useful therapeutic option for individuals diagnosed with laryngeal cancer".

In order to reveal more information about cucumber anti laryngeal cancer property, scientists evaluated the combined antitumor effect of cucurbitacin B with docetaxel on Hep-2, a human laryngeal cancer cell line.

The combination of cucurbitacin B and docetaxel produced greater efficacy in growth inhibition, cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase, and apoptosis induction similar to those of the aforementioned study compared to single agent treatment.

The efficacy of the combined effect of cucurbitacin B and docetaxel anti-Hep-2 was attributed to the suppression of the expression of proteins involved in the tumor proliferation and migration.

In vivo, the combination of cucurbitacin B with docetaxel also synergestively inhibited tumor growth in a mouse xenograft model.

Taken altogether, cucumber processed a high amount of cucurbitacin B may be considered supplements combined with conventional medicine for the treatment of laryngeal cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of cucurbitacin B in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Bromelain Inhibits Cancer Initiation and Progression in Vitro and Vivo

Cancer is a class of chronic and medical conditions caused by the alternation of cell DNA.

Most cases of cancer start in the cells on the surface of the inner lining of specific tissues and organs.

At the early stage due to the very small size of the tumor, most cancers are asymptomatic. However, at the advanced stage, cancer only can induce general symptoms such as gastrointestinal discomfort, unintended weight loss, fatigue, and loss but also lead to specific symptoms, such as localized bleeding and pain, depending to the location of cancer.

Also, at this stage, primary cancer cells can travel a distance away from the original site to infect other healthy tissues and organ, leading to secondary metastasis through the circulation of blood and fluids.

According to the statistic provided by the American Cancer Society, in the US 2019, approximately 1,762,450 new cancer cases will be diagnosed and 606,880 deaths are results of cancer.

Furthermore, in age perspective, older adults although are accounted for only 8% of all cases diagnosed in the US, they have a 17% mortality rate compared to other age groups.

The 5 years survival rate is totally depending on the stage of cancer diagnosed. The early diagnosed stage has the highest survival rate compared to other later stages.

Many risk factors such as aging, tobacco, sun exposure, toxic exposure, viruses and bacteria, use hormone therapy, family history of cancer, alcohol, poor diet, lack of physical activity, or being overweight have been found to increase the risk of cancer, epidemiologically.

However, most people with some of the aforementioned risk factors have never developed cancer.

Some researchers in the examination of the risk of obesity in risk cancer wrote, "The prevalence of overweight and obesity is increasing worldwide, and the evidence base for a link between obesity and cancer is growing... Recent research has found that as the body mass index increases by 5 kg/m2, cancer mortality increases by 10%".

Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme found in pineapples (Ananas comosus) has been used in traditional medicine as an inflammatory agent and to treat pains, strains, and muscle aches and pains and ease back pain and chronic joint pain, skin diseases, etc.

The research team at the University of Oxford on finding a potential compound for the treatment of cancer with no side effects examined the bromelain capacity against cancers in the past and present studies.

Evidence derived from clinical observations, mouse- and cell-based models suggested that bromelain, a 95%-mixture of proteases acts systemically, affecting multiple cellular and molecular targets.

The most recent study found that bromelain has the capacity to inhibit cell malignancy by modulating the key pathways associated with cell differentiation.

Other studies suggested the anti-cancer activity of bromelain consists of the direct impact on cancer cells and their microenvironment by modulating immune, inflammatory and hemostatic systems.

Additonally, in the study to reaffirm the use of bromelain (BL) as an anti-cancer phytotherapeutic agent, researchers examined Oral administration of bromelain (BL) in anti-cancer drugs encapsulated in Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) to formulate nanoparticles (NPs).

NPs enhanced the function of cytotoxicity in the induction of cancer cell death in significant dose advantage (-7-10 folds) that reduces the IC50 values, compared to free BL.

NPs induced cellular uptake of MCF-7, HeLa and Caco-2 cells monolayer by several folds compared to free BL.

NPs also modulated the expression of marker proteins associated with apoptosis and cell death and suppression (P53, P21, Bcl2, Bax).

Furthermore, in Swiss albino mice, NPs injection not only reduced the tumor burden of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) but also increased their life-span (160.0 ± 5.8%) compared to free BL.

In other words, NPs enhanced anti-carcinogenic potential through a number of mechanisms, including the generation of reactive oxygen species, induction of apoptosis and impaired mitochondrial membrane potential.

Taken altogether, bromelain used alone or encapsulated in Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of bromelain in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Coffee Caffeine In Risk of Ovarian Cancer Incidence?

Bad news for postmenopausal women coffee lovers, caffeinated coffee may have a positive effect in exhibited risk for epithelial ovarian cancer, a study by a respectable institute proposed.

Coffee, a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roast bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

The epithelial ovarian tumor also is known as a surface epithelial-stromal tumor, is a result of irregular cells growth on the surface of the ovary. Epithelial ovarian tumor is the most common form of ovarian cancer accounted for over 90% of ovarian cancer of all cases.

According to the University of Minnesota, coffee consumption of more than five cups a day may be associated with increased risk of ovarian cancer in postmenopausal women.

In the evaluated the risk of coffee and caffeine intake against epithelial ovarian cancer in a prospective cohort study of 29,060 postmenopausal women, returned questionnaire from ovarian cancer patients from 1986 to 2004. suggested that the increased risk of epithelial ovarian cancer incidence was found in women who consumed more than 5 cups per days.in compared to the lesser cup drinkers and nondrinkers.

The study also indicated that decaffeinated coffee and caffeine showed no statistically significantly associated with ovarian cancer incidence.

Others, in the evaluated enzyme CYP1A2 in the metabolism of coffee from the data collected from a preliminary investigation conducted in Hawaii of 164 epithelial ovarian cancer cases and 194 controls, women with CYP1A2 genotype modifies, the results showed that coffee consumption in these population expressed a substantially increased risk of ovarian cancer compared to women who did not drink regular coffee.

Furthermore, Women with any CYP1A2 C allele and women with the A/A genotype were associated to a similar risk of ovarian cancer (OR = 1.1, 95% CI = 0.7-1.7) but the increased risk of ovarian cancer was stronger among women with the A/A genotype than among women with any C allele.

Dr. Goodman MT, the lead author said., "preliminary data suggest a modest positive association of caffeine and coffee consumption with the OR for ovarian cancer that may be modified by CYP1A2 genotype and exposures, such as cruciferous vegetable consumption, that influence CYP1A2 expression".

However, according to the Information on coffee consumption collected from 91,767 women at baseline in the Norwegian Women and Cancer Study, coffee intake was found to reduced risk of various types of cancer, including ovarian cancer, with no statistic different in women who drank more than 3 and up to 7 cups/day, and women who drank ≤1 cup/day.

Taking together, intake of coffee regularly with less than 5 cups per day may be associated to ameliorated risk of ovarian cancer incidence, but women with enzyme CYP1A2 modified and C allele and post-menopause women should consult with their doctor before applying.

Phytochemical Alliin Inhibits the Parameters Associated with the Onset of Diabetic Complications

Diabetes is a medical condition characterized by the failure of the body to utilize the insulin in converting glucose to energy, leading to high levels of glucose in the bloodstream.

Most cases of diabetes are associated with either beta cells of the pancreas died-off or insulin receptor site clogged-up by fat and cholesterol.

Diabetic complications in most cases are caused by long-term unmanaged hyperglycemia, a hallmark of diabetes.

Hyperglycemia occurs in diabetics due to uncontrolled diet, skip diabetes medication and improper use of insulin injection.

Most common complication of diabetes is associated with the damage of tiny blood vessels that nourish the related organ and tissues, leading to the risk for developing microvascular and macrovascular complications. includes
* Cardiovascular disease
* Nerve damage
* Kidney damage
* Eye damage
* Foot damage
And skin problems

Dr. Waqas Sami, in the evaluation of the effect of diet and type 2 diabetes wrote, "Dietary habits and sedentary lifestyle are the major factors for the rapidly rising incidence of DM among developing countries".

And, "In type 2 diabetics, recently, elevated HbA1c level has also been considered as one of the leading risk factors for developing microvascular and macrovascular complications. Improvement in the elevated HbA1c level can be achieved through diet management; thus, the patients could be prevented from developing diabetes complications".

In other words, by following a healthy diet to normalize the levels of HbA1c level, accompanied by moderate exercise, risk of diabetic complication can be manageable.

Alliin (S-allyl-L-cysteine-S-oxide) is a phytochemical compound sulfoxide,. a derivative of the amino acid cysteine, belonging to the class of sulfur compounds, found abundantly in fresh garlic and onion.

On finding a potential compound for the prevention of diabetic complications, researchers examined the effect of alliin, the most abundant sulfur compound in garlic antidiabetic complications against glycation.

Where advanced glycation is considered one of the major pathways associated with the development and progression of a number of diabetic complications including nephropathy, retinopathy, and neuropathy.

Based on the results, alliin exerted a significant effect on glucose and methylglyoxal (MG)-induced by glycation of superoxide dismutase (SOD), that leads to decreased the antioxidant enzyme activity, fragmentation/cross-linking in fragment ion association with impaired cross-link, and reduced cross-reactivity with anti-SOD antibodies.

Moreover, the expression of glycation of SOD also leads to the formation of AGEs and fibrils.

In other words, alliin offered protection against elevated levels of glucose or MG induced glycation of SOD.

Additionally, alliin efficacy against the onset of hyperglycemia was comparable with that of quercetin which is reported to be a potent natural inhibitor of glycation.

Based on the findings, researchers wrote, "Alliin has a good antiglycating effect and hence is expected to have therapeutic potential in the prevention of glycation-mediated diabetic complications".

Taken altogether, alliin may be considered supplements for the prevention of glycation-mediated diabetic complications, depending on the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of alliin in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Coffee Intake< or =1 Cup/Day in Reduced Risk of Kidney Diseases in Healthy Women

Kidney diseases are medical conditions characterized by the inability of kidney in filter out wastes from the blood.

Coffee, second to tea consumption is a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, made from roasted bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

In the review literature published on database from MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane from inception until April 2016 to compare risk of CKD in individuals consuming significant amount of coffee vs. those who did not consume coffee, the led joint study institute Bassett Medical Center, researchers filed the following results in 4 observational studies involved 14 898 individuals
1. Participants drinking one cup of coffee per day or greater was associated with a reduced risk of kidney disease of RR(relative ratio) of .71
2. In women subgroup, the relative risk of kidney disease developing was .81
3. In men subgroup, the RR was 1.10

The findings suggested that there was no significant association between 2 groups in risk of chronic kidney diseases, without mentioned risk of kidney disease increased in women drinking over 1 cup of coffee daily and regularly.
Other, in the differentiation of sample size of the population of 151 of autosomal dominant polycystic kidneys disease with a median follow-up of 4 visits per patient and a median follow-up time of 4.38 years researchers indicated that there was no difference in the size of kidney in coffee drinkers in compared to non-coffee drinkers, even after adjusting to other factors.

Dr. Girardat-Rotar L, the lead researchers said, "Data derived from our prospective longitudinal study do not confirm that drinking coffee is a risk factor for ADPKD progression".

Additionally, in a total 2,673 women aged 35 to 84 years, participated in the Fourth Korea National Health and nutrition examination Surveys, conducted in 2008 with habitual coffee consumption classified into three categories: less than 1 cup per day, 1 cup per day, and 2 or more cups per day against risk of renal impairment, researchers at the Asian study filed the following results
1. Risk of renal function impairment was higher in women who drank < 1 cup of coffee per day compared to nondrinkers.
2. The relative risk odd of renal impairment of drinking < 1 cup of coffee per day was significantly lower in compared to those habitually drank ≥ 2 cups per day,
3. Risk of renal function impairment was found inversely associate coffee consumption ≥ 2 cups of coffee per day in only diabetic women in compared with consumption < 1 cup of coffee per day.

Taking all together, the conflict evidence suggested that coffee intake may only benefit healthy women who drink less or 1 cup of coffee per day regularly and daily. Regardless of the outcome, people with kidney deficiency should consult with their doctor's befogging applying.

Cucumber, the Potential Anti Cancer Whole Food

Cancer is a class of diseases associated with irregular cell growth caused by the alternation of cell DNA.

Most common types of cancer in Canada are non-melanoma skin cancer, lung, breast, colorectal and prostate cancer.

Most cases of primary cancer begin in the cells on the surface of the inner lining of the tissues of a specific organ.

At the early stage, due to the small size of the tumor, most patients with cancer are asymptomatic. However, at the advanced stage, all cancers not only share the general symptoms of gastrointestinal discomforts, unintended weight loss, loss of appetite and fatigue, they also induce specific symptoms, such as bleeding and severe pain, depending on the location of the tumor.

At this stage, most cancer cells can travel a distance away to infect other healthy tissues and organs, leading to secondary metastasis.

Conventionally, cancer at the localized stage is normally treated with surgery to remove the tumor and radiotherapy to kill off the remaining cancer cells. However, if cancer has spread, a combination of surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy may be necessary.

There are a number of prevalent factors that have been found to increase the risk of cancer. Some researchers suggested the rise of cancer in older adults probably is associated with increased life expectancy over the past few decades.

Dr. Anisimov VN, the scientist at the cancer team at the N.N. Petrov Research Institute of Oncology said, "A significant increase in the number of old people in the populations of developed countries was followed by an increase in morbidity and mortality resulting from main age-related diseases -- cardiovascular, cancer, neurodegenerative, diabetes mellitus, a decrease in resistance to infections".

And, " There was a high positive correlation between the type of geroprotector-induced aging delay and the pattern of tumor development in the same population of animals. The first type of geroprotectors did not influence the incidence of the tumor but increased tumor latency".

The cucumber plant is a species of Cucumis Sativus, belongings to the family Cucurbitaceae and native to Western Asia. It is a creeping vine with roots in the ground and grows up with the support of frames.

With an aim to find a potential anti-cancer natural compound with no side effect, researchers examined the cellular function of Pediococcus pentosaceus CRAG3 (GenBank ID: JX679020), a novel isolated from the fermented cucumber.
In vitro,. according to the cytotoxicity analysis, the dextran novel dextran from Pediococcus pentosaceus CRAG3 exerted cytotoxic effects against cervical cancer (HeLa) and colon cancer (HT29) cell lines.

According to the additional differentiation, the efficacy of dextran anticancer activity was attributed to its function in enhancing the growth of macrophage from the immune system.

In heat shock protein Hsp90, indirectly induced multiple pathways that lead to angiogenesis and metastasis in cancer, researchers examined the Vitexin from the Cucurbitaceae family in the restraining angiogenesis activity of this protein.

According to the docking results, Vitexin, a prominent glycosylated natural flavonoid, showed a promising inhibitory potential against Hsp90.

In other words, Vitexin protected the cell integrity against the alternation of cell DNA induced heat shock protein Hsp90.

Dr. Sharma N, the lead scientist after taking other factors into account wrote, "Vitexin to hold prominent antiangiogenic potential surpassing different in silico parameters and thus expected to be a multi-targeted novel antiangiogenic lead".

Taken altogether, cucumber may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of cancer pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of Vitexin in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Coffee and Coffee Caffeine In Attenuated Risk and Symptoms of Hepatic Steatosis

Coffee, a popular and social beverage all over the world, particularly in the West, is a drink made from roast bean from the Coffea plant, native to tropical Africa and Madagascar.

Hepatic steatosis. a fatty liver disease caused by excessively accumulated amounts of triglycerides and other fats inside liver cells due to several factors alcoholism, malnutrition, pregnancy, or drug therapy.

In the analyzed 1024 Japanese male workers in diagnosed of hepatic steatosis based on ultrasonography, participants divided coffee and green tea consumption into the following three categories: non-drinker; 1-2 cups/day and ⩾3 cups/day, after adjusting to other risk factors, researchers filed the following results
1. Out of 1024 patients, 25.9% were diagnosed with hepatic steatosis.
2. Patients drinking >3 cups of coffee/day displayed a significantly lower risk of hepatic steatosis in compared to noncoffee drinker group.
3. Coffee intake reduced expression of leptin, a protein produced by fatty tissue and believed to regulate fat storage in the body of moderate-severe hepatic steatosis groups.

Base on these results, researchers of the joint study lead by the Fukuoka University, insisted that coffee and coffee caffeine not only reduced risk of prevalence of hepatic steatosis but also improved liver function through a decreased level of leptin in fat accumulation.

More importantly, in the study of aged C57 BL/6 NCr mice divided into three groups: controls that were not given coffee (n = 9), a group that received 0.1% caffeinated coffee (n = 9), and a group that received 0.1% decaffeinated coffee (n = 9) for 17 wk until mice reached the age of 24 months, researcher files the following reports
1. Regular and decaffeinated coffee consumption display a decreased plasma-free fatty acid levels and increased hepatic adenosine triphosphate content, an indication of reduced risk of hepatic steatosis
2. Coffee and coffee caffeine also reduced expression of protein content, responsible for fat accumulation in the liver.
3. Coffee consumption in these aged population demonstrated a positive effect on behavioral energy and lipid metabolism as well.

More interestingly, Dr. Salomone F, the lead researcher at the joint study lead by the Azienda Sanitaria Provinciale di Catania, in the investigated coffee phytochemicals effect in reduced risk of liver diseases said, "in experimental models of fibrosis, caffeine was shown to inhibit hepatic stellate cell activation by blocking adenosine receptors, and emerging evidence indicated that caffeine may also favorably impact angiogenesis and hepatic hemodynamics" and " chlorogenic acids, potent phenolic antioxidants, suppress liver fibrogenesis and carcinogenesis by reducing oxidative stress and counteract steatogenesis through the modulation of glucose and lipid homeostasis in the liver".

Taking together, there is no doubt that coffee and coffee caffeine would have a significant and therapeutic effect in attenuated risk and complication of hepatic steatosis, through expression in reduced fat accumulation and lipid peroxidation in the liver.
