Niacin, is also known as vitamin B3, nicotinic acid, an organic compound with the formula
C6H5NO2, found abundantly in chicken, beef, fish, cereal, peanuts and legumes. It is best known for its effects in lowering cholesterol and triglycerides and removing toxic from our body and promoting production of steroid hormones.
Niacin may be a potential agent in promoted immune response against invasion of micro bacterial invasion. a renowned institute suggested.
Immune responses is a normal reaction of immune system in prevented infection and inflammation caused by foreign invasion, and further injure and damage due to wound of body tissues and organs.
According to the study of 30% of HIV-1-infected patients receiving antiretroviral therapy in reduced elevated risk for clinical progression to AIDS and non-AIDS events, involving CD4+ T-cell depletion, extended-release form of niacin (Niaspan FCT™) in combination with antiretroviral therapy, showed a significant effect in improved immune activation, thus increasing CD4 recovery in compared to deferred use of Niaspan patients after 24 week periods.
Dr. Lebouché B, the lead author said, " Niacin (vitamin B3) is able to control the excess tryptophan oxidation, correcting tryptophan depletion, and therefore represents an interesting strategy to improve CD4 recovery".
Niacin, in other study, with direct action in regulation of inflammatory responses or disordered immune mechanisms may be considered as a supplementary therapy in rheumatic diseases, atopic disorders and chronic infections.
Dr. Kirkland JB, said, " niacin status does have an impact on cancer risk, including animal models of leukemogenesis and skin cancer, as well as epidemiological data from human populations".
Taking together, niacin as a dietary supplement may have a potential effect in reduced risk of any form disease involving action of immune system.
