Vitamin A, a bi-polar molecule formed by bonds between carbon and hydrogen, is a fat soluble vitamin which can not be stored in the liver but it can be converted from beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant. The vitamin is best known fir its strong effects in improving vision and enhancing bone growth.

All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) played essential roles in the normal biological processes and the treatment of cancer and skin diseases may cause potential interaction with lysozyme, tyrosine, tryptophan and many antioxidants, such as curcumin (Cur), vitamin C (VC) and gallic acid (GA), according to the Tongji University study.

Coadministered with ketoconazole and liarozole, atRA expressed favorably in regulating the cell cycle, and the treatment of other cancers against therapy resistance, inhibitors of atRA metabolism.
Dr. Jing J. the lead author said, "It accurately predicted the changes in atRA exposure after continuous dosing and when coadministered with ketoconazole and liarozole. The developed model will be useful in interpretation of atRA disposition and efficacy, design of novel dosing strategies, and development of next-generation atRA metabolism inhibitors".

In B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells, combination of ATRA and rituximab showed synergistic induction of apoptosis compared to untreated CLL cells as a negative control.

Taking altogether, Intake and Vitamin A may increase the efficacy of other vitamins and herbs in reduced production of free radicals. When used combination with other conventional medicines, vitamin A induced the effectiveness and expression of medicines involved.
